Marketing Team Analyzing Statistics At Meeting

With the hits many businesses have taken throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies have cut their marketing budgets to curb spending. Data from research firm Gartner CMO Strategic Priorities Survey 2020-2021 reveals that the proportion of revenue allocated to marketing was cut almost in half, from an average of 11% in 2020 to just 6% in 2021—the lowest proportion allocated to marketing in the history of the survey.

The Problem with Reducing your Marketing Budget

  • You risk losing market share
  • It will be harder to attract new leads
  • Even if you hold onto your current business, you will find it next to impossible to grow
  • Out of sight, out of mind

Marketing is Essential, and it Can Be affordable

You can make the most of your marketing dollars by choosing wisely where those dollars should be allocated. Of course, the best place to start is with your website. That’s because your website is a continuing source of marketing.

It is versatile and evergreen. It is essential as a calling card, but it is also more than just a calling card. You can add features that not only help in your marketing efforts but can also streamline your business.

A Good Website, and All Good Marketing Starts with Great Content

It is essential to have clear messaging, the right tone, and precision branding to reach your target audience. This will make the most of your marketing budget by allowing your advertising arrows to hit their bullseyes.

Good content extends to your social media marketing, blogs, vlogs, podcasts, Tik-Toks, and special campaigns. Everything must have brand consistency and a clear plan.

What You Can Cut

It’s essential to evaluate what you do well in the marketing sphere and your target audience. For example, it is far better to focus on two social media channels and use them well than to use all the channels only halfway and often the wrong way.

Use It or Lose It

Use your Marketing Budget by the end of the year, or they may be cut from your budget next year.

  • SEO Audit- Work with an SEO Expert to evaluate your keywords and your overall SEO. This can help you formulate a plan for the upcoming year.
  • Blog Posts- Now, use those keywords to up your website’s SEO. Hire an SEO professional content writer to ensure your post hits all the marks.
  • Social Media Campaign- Retarget your social media and use it combined with powerful content and stunning imagery to gain leads and customers
  • Update Your Website- Start the year with a new website that expresses your company’s message and mission.

Brand Clarity for Social Media Engagement

You must have brand clarity and a defined purpose, ensuring your message is heard in the noise of social media. And understand the “rules” of the social platform you are using.

Women Discussing Photos On Social Media 2021 09 04 15 44 24 Utc

How do you ensure your message is heard in today’s rapidly changing noisy environment of social media? You are not only competing against other brands but also other content creators and each social platform’s algorithm. To be heard above the noise, you must have brand clarity and a defined purpose for being in that social sphere.

You also need to understand the “rules” of the social platforms you are using to best leverage the content you post to that platform.

Start by Asking Yourself a two Questions

1.      What do I want to accomplish on social media?
Do I want:

  •       Social engagement
  •       Employee engagement
  •       Lead generation
  •       Community engagement
  •       Feedback from potential customers
  •       Name recognition

Make your goal(s) the center of everything you do on social.

  1.       Who is going to monitor and engage the community on my chosen social channel?

The reason people are on social media because they want to engage with family, friends, influencers, and brands. So if you think you will just put content out there and that will satisfy the masses, you’re wrong. It will come off as insincere.

While you may not think you need someone to babysit your social media full-time (especially if you are only using one preferred platform), you will want someone who will pay attention to it and respond in a way that your audience will appreciate. It isn’t a crockpot that you can set and forget. And, if your social media campaign does happen to go viral, it will be well worth the cost of hiring a full-time social media expert.

Content

You must go deep if you want to get the most out of the content you create. The benefit of this is that you can create one in-depth blog and use it from several angles across your social media channels.

Imagine you write a post about dog grooming during the pandemic.

  •       You have amazing pictures for Instagram of coifed dogs.
  •       Highlight the changes in the grooming industry for a LinkedIn post.
  •       On Facebook, talk about the top 3 essential oils you can use to calm your dog down before they go to the groomer. Then, ask other people for their tips.
  •       Make a great video montage in fast motion for TikTok.

Whatever you choose to do, link back to the original post and stay part of the conversation.

Community

When your audience and your content collide, and a conversation starts, the content you create is amplified. It becomes alive! And that’s the best publicity of all.

Recently I came across a Tic-Tok video of a 56 year-old-woman who struggled with bags under her eyes after weight loss surgery. She applied Thomas Peter Roth Instant Firmx Eye Temporary Eye Tightener to one eye in real-time and showed the difference it made. It was remarkable! Peter Thomas Roth sold out of this product everywhere—including on their e-comm site.

Why did this work? Because it was genuine! Many people who saw the video shared it, and Peter Thomas Roth benefited from the community. Engage!

Consistency

Reverse engineer social media. Stop selling to people and begin engaging with them. When you educate people in inspiring and entertaining ways, they will comment on and share your content. Respond to their comments! This is your brand’s opportunity to be a part of the conversation. Don’t let those opportunities pass you by.

This engagement brings organic traffic to your site and will increase your authority in Google’s eyes.

Tic-Tok and Instagram are currently the best platforms to create snack-able content that your audience will engage with and share. But the platform(s) you choose will depend on where your ideal audience is.

The most important thing to pay attention to when creating or modifying your website is its content. That’s because content can make the most significant difference in your website’s overall SEO. Let’s look at why that is and how you can create content that will give your site an edge over the competition on the search engine results page (SERP).

Young Friends Sharing Content On Streaming Platfor Ufdlhah

Good Content is Likable

It is even more than just likable. It stands out from the crowd as having what other content on the same topic is missing. It might be a unique perspective, an expert voice, a deeper dive, or a fresh way of explaining the topic. Whatever your content has, it makes it irresistibly readable, shareable, and something that people want.

Good Content is Linkable

Your content can be the most enticing information in the world, but if you can’t link to it, search engines won’t like it and won’t rank it. Examples of this kind of content include slide shows and content that you can only access after logging in (and even then, it can’t be shared).

Good Content is Optimized for the Right Keywords

When you are trying to decide what keywords to focus on in your content, do your research. You will want keywords that are a natural part of the content. Don’t over-use them. This is called keyword stuffing. Search engines don’t like it, and they will punish websites that employ such tactics. The keywords you choose should be in demand enough that people are looking for the topic, but not so in-demand that your content will never make it to the top of the pile. It often takes a little trial and error to find your sweet spot, but you will soon get the hang of keyword research.

Good Content gets Updated Regularly

Don’t allow your site to sit stagnant for too long. It sends the message to site users and Google that your content isn’t fresh or relevant anymore. Instead, update your content regularly by adding to your blog, updating an event calendar, refreshing a page’s content, etc. This will send the message that you are paying attention to your content, and that means it is more trustworthy than stale content that hasn’t been changed in two months.

At Iceberg Web Design, we always start a website project with content. That content may come from an old website that you are updating. It might come from a writer that the company has hired. But most often, it is created by our SEO Content Writers. We spend time with someone from the company, finding out what they need from their website. We talk about what they envision, and we consult with them on best practices and industry standards.

Then the writer assigned to the project will do a deep dive, researching the industry and deciding how to portray the company best to put them on top.

Male Writing With Laptop.

Well Written Content

Your content will profoundly affect a customer’s perception of your business. If your content is disorganized, visitors will assume that your business is, as well. That organization rests on the shoulders of your content.

It has never been more critical to make a good impression on your website. Because of COVID-19, many customers are vetting businesses by visiting their websites first. This can often save them time and potential health risks by ensuring a company can meet their needs before going into their brick-and-mortar business.

SEO Strategy

Your SEO strategy should include both on-page and off-page SEO. Your content writer needs to be adept at using these concepts. User experience is the number one thing that will affect your SEO. User experience is behind all of the rules that are part of Google’s algorithm. Having a content writer who knows how to maximize the user experience will not only make Google happy and boost your SEO. It will also make your site visitors. It may even improve the chances that they will want to do business with you.

Avoid the Fluff: Display Your Expertise

Offering Free Knowledge is a great way to show your customers that you are an expert in your field. Many people want to understand the problem they are hiring someone to fix. Then, they feel secure in the knowledge that they are getting the right service for their needs.

Your website is the first impression many people will have of your business. Customers can find fluff anywhere. By sharing something of value, you are helping them feel comfortable with your level of expertise. If you can’t articulate your business, customers aren’t going to feel secure working with you.

Yet, some companies are fearful of giving away free knowledge. They hold onto it like it’s Grandma’s secret recipe. But sharing knowledge with your site’s visitors will help to create a bond between them and your business over time. They will see your generosity and good-will.

Iceberg Web Design Can Help

Iceberg Web Design Team MN

At Iceberg Web Design, you get to have a dedicated partner with an invested team working for your business’s interests. Each month we have been featuring each of our team members in a profile post, so you can get to know the penguins better. This month, we are talking to Heather Erickson, our SEO Content Writer.

Heather Erickson
SEO Content Writer

Heather | SEO Content Writer

I’m an SEO content writer and head of the content department at Iceberg Web Design. I was a freelancer, contracting with Iceberg from November 2019 until July of 2020, when Iceberg hired me to be on staff full-time.

Have your duties changed since you first started working here?

I started writing blog posts for customers who subscribe to our SEO writing services. That involves researching the business and the things about which their customers are concerned. Then, I write articles about those topics. I might be writing for a lawyer and an electrician one day, and the next, I could be writing for a roofer and a flooring company. So, I get a lot of variety.

Over time, I started taking on website projects. That’s an entirely different type of writing, but the same SEO principles apply.

What do you do for Iceberg’s customers?

Every website project that I write content for starts with a content interview. I prepare for the interview by doing some preliminary research and deciding what I need to prioritize since I will only have an hour with the client. That time can go very fast!

My job is to gather enough information from the content interview to put the business owner’s passion for what they do into words. I need to do it in a way that evokes trust and assurance to customers and gets customers excited about working with the business—all while making the copy search engine-friendly.

The process includes writing a couple of drafts to ensure I get all of the details right. Once I have delivered the final copy to development, I am pretty finished, other than checking the site before it goes live for any potential issues.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My childhood dream job was to be a detective, so I love the content interviews and the research. I get to pull out important details to get an accurate picture to have on the website. Plus, I love getting to know our customers. It’s the one chance I have to really connect with them.

What is your #1 goal when working with a customer?

My number one goal is to help create a website that will fulfill their business’s needs. Sometimes that means they want sales. Other times they want to hire new staff because of high turnover. I love finding ways that their website can make their job easier. The truth is, we do much more than build websites. We build business solutions that happen to look like websites.

In what other industries have you worked?

Haha. You name it. I’ve been a nursing assistant, a waitress, a cashier, a trainer in restaurants. I guess I like the service industry. I was also a realtor for about ten years. My favorite job was homeschooling my kids. I got them through to college, which they each started at the age of 16.

Tell us a bit about your family (including pets):

I’m a widow. My husband had lung cancer for seven years before his death in 2019. Our kids are Matt (17), Samantha (19), and Summer (22). Summer just got married, so now I have a son-in-law, too! I have a gerbil. My youngest kids are allergic, or I would get something more interactive.

Do you have any hobbies/special interests?

I hunt wild mushrooms and am involved in the Minnesota Mycological Society. I also carve Wooden Duck Decoys. I don’t hunt, but I love the carving process. I enjoy learning Spanish, as well. I like learning anything.

What is something about you that might surprise your customers and co-workers?

I’m a true crime junkie.

Describe your perfect day:

Perfect weather, 72* with no humidity and a soft breeze rustling through the trees. I get to spend the day in the woods. I can walk, look for mushrooms, read, take a nap, relax. That sounds amazing to me.

Science or History? Which is your favorite and why?

I think history, though it is tough to choose. I love the stories that are attached to history. There are science stories, as well, but they aren’t well known.

If you were guaranteed the correct answer to one question, what would you ask?

“What should I do?” The key thing is to save that question for the most crucial moment—a pivotal point in time.

What is your best piece of advice? It can be about anything.

If you can learn from your mistakes, you turn them into life lessons. Then, they are no longer regrets or wasted moments in time.

My second-best piece of advice is to contact us at Iceberg Web Design for all of your website needs!

Many websites start as just content. Then they grow into an e-commerce site or a site that is used as a platform for a service. At that point, your business begins to pick up, and you forget about that original content, your blog. You will likely want to have your website updated and upgraded to keep up with the changing pace of business and technology. At that time, it is common for business owners to consider dropping their blog. Here’s Why You shouldn’t do that!

Beauty Blogger Influencer

Follow the Advice of Content Marketers

Content marketers know their business. That’s why when 86% of them are doing this as part of their content strategy. It pays to consider that ‘it’ worth doing. What are they doing? Blogging! “Businesses with a consistent content or blog strategy receive twice as much email traffic as those without. Plus, more than 55 percent of marketers say they’ve gained new customers just by blogging.” [1]

How Much Work Goes into a Writing a Blog?

Content can be anywhere from 500 to 1200 words on average, depending on your audience and what kind of marketing you are doing. The average blog post takes nearly four hours to complete. What goes into that time?

  •     Research
  •     Writing
  •     SEO Crafting
  •     Editing
  •     Image Sourcing
  •     Final Draft

It can be time-consuming, but it is worth it. A professionally written blog can bring in business and increase name recognition across the web.

SEO Services

If you include SEO services with your online content, you are doubling down on a marketing masterpiece. With SEO services, your blog can be posted to social media and Google My Business in front of the right audiences at the correct times to increase traffic to your site even more.

Will it Hurt to Ditch my Blog? It’s Not That Great.

YES! If you get rid of your existing blog, Google’s algorithms will see a sudden elimination of content from your site. Your site’s SEO will drop like a rock and won’t recover for a long time.

If you are unhappy with your blog, the best thing you can do is hire an SEO professional to manage it. They can slowly change each post to a new, improved version, keeping the URL intact. That is important since Google likes changes to content (not URLs), but it wants these to be slow changes.

Getting Help

Then, you can outsource your blog writing to a professional blogger so you can work on your business while they work on your blog. Companies who blog get 97% more links to their websites.[2] Why give that up? At Iceberg Web Design, we produce professionally written SEO content every day for our customers. Contact us today to find out how we can help you. Read our reviews!

When including a blog on your website, one question inevitably comes up: Should you allow comments? This is something on which even the experts can’t seem to agree. Even influencer Michael Hyatt took some time to decide. He removed his comment section for a year and then ended up putting it back. The fact is, there isn’t a right answer. You will have to decide for yourself what works for your website. Here are some things to consider when deciding.

Man Typing On Laptop Computer H6ktzwe

How a Comment Section Benefits your Blog

If you have time and love interacting with your audience, perhaps having comments on your blog is the way you want to go. Many people advocate for keeping them. Here are a few reasons why:

  •         Comments keep the conversation going.
  •         Comments and responses to them can deepen your relationship with your readers
  •         They provide social proof of what you are saying in your post
  •         When Readers comment, they may also engage with your site in other ways
  •         Allowing comments can make visitors feel more welcome.
  •         It is an opportunity to network
  •         You can get new ideas for fresh blog topics

Why a Blog Comment Section isn’t Worth it

While 90% of your readers will never comment on a blog, 90% of your comments will come from 1% of your readers.[1] That is a disproportionate representation of your audience in your comment section, which could skew the way you see your audience and write for them. Those aren’t the only reasons to cut the comment section.

  •         Lots of low-quality, spammy comments are frustrating to deal with
  •         Moderating blog comments is time-consuming
  •         Comments allow the reader too much control over a conversation that is yours to direct.
  •         Comment volume does not correlate with the number of visitors to your site

Options to Consider

Neil Patel has a great article on whether comments help your blog’s SEO. Here are some options:

  •         Allow comments. This involves spending more time answering questions and moderating the discussion, but many people find it worth the time.
  •         Skip the hassle. If you want more of a one-way conversation with you sharing information with your readers, you don’t need comments. If they aren’t helping you achieve your goals, why bother with them?
  •         Move the conversation to social media! You will still have to use your time and energy to keep up with the conversation there, but low-quality social media comments won’t make your website look unprofessional.

Still want social proof?

The best social proof is a high-quality review. Reputation Management Services from Iceberg Web Design can gather all of the web reviews into one place. You can use these reviews on your website and respond (which you should always do when someone reviews your business or product). To learn more, give us a call or fill out our convenient contact form.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a complex topic. The rules seem to constantly be changing and it can be hard to keep up. Misinformation abounds, and this includes the issue of duplicate content. What is it? Will Google penalize your site for having it? How can you prevent duplicate content’s negative consequences to your site’s SEO?

What is duplicate content?

Google says:

“Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar.”

You’ve probably heard that duplicate content, whether duplicated within your site or across different sites isn’t a good thing. That’s true, but there is a lot more to it than that.

How Google handles duplicate content

Google will attempt to determine the original source of the content and only display that source, filtering out any duplicates from the search results. While a less than desirable version of the content could end up on the SERP, Google is usually pretty good at finding the right site to display.

Plagiarism

The worst-case scenarios are the rare times Google’s algorithm happens to select the URL from a site that is posting your content without your permission. You did the work, but they are getting your traffic. While there are many bloggers who don’t mind this, others do—especially if they don’t give you the byline or the links. This isn’t curated content, it’s plagiarism.

If this happens to you, Google recommends that you contact the site’s host and ask them to remove the duplicate content. If they don’t comply, you can ask Google to remove the infringing page from their search results by filing a request under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The process is easy and only takes a few moments.

Will your site be penalized for duplicate content?

That depends. People rarely put duplicate content on their site with malicious intent (more about that, later). And you certainly won’t incur a penalty in those situations. Unfortunately, deceptive duplications do happen. This is usually done in order to manipulate traffic and rankings, resulting in poor user experience. And, user experience is the most important factor in Google’s ranking algorithms. Every single metric in those algorithms has the goal of giving users the best experience possible. This includes avoiding duplicate content. After all, it’s frustrating to visit multiple sites and find the same content each time.

If Google suspects that the duplicate content on your site is being used to manipulate the rankings and deceive users, they will make adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved. They may even completely remove the site from the Google index. At that point, it would no longer appear in search results.

No problem. I never create duplicate content!

Most people don’t, but one page can be read by search crawlers in several different ways. Take your homepage, for example:

http://www.yourhomepage.com

https://www. yourhomepage.com

http:// yourhomepage.com

http:// yourhomepage/index.php

http:// yourhomepage.com/index.php?r…

All of these URLs lead to the same page, but to search engines like Google’s, they look like multiple pages. When they are each crawled and Google sees the same content, it appears to be duplicate content. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Many content management systems automatically add tags and allow multiple paths to the same content. Your site may also have a “regular” and “printer” version of each article. Your site may have thousands of duplicate URLs without you even knowing.

Should I just block duplicate content on my site?

By blocking the bots from freely crawling your site, you are also preventing them from properly consolidating the signals. Google then has to treat them as separate, unique pages. If your site contains multiple pages with mostly identical content, there are better ways you can direct search engines to your preferred URL. Mark duplicates by creating a canonical tag using the rel=”canonical” link element.

301 redirects are another method of canonicalization. They are the easiest way to fix duplicate content issues on your site. So if you found a bunch of duplicate content pages on your site, you would redirect them back to the original.

Avoid creating duplicate content

There are ways to control similar content within your site, such as looking for pages that can be consolidated into the same page, or lengthened and expounded upon to differentiate them from one another.

If you have a large chunk of content that you add to the bottom of every page, you can instead, include a brief summary and link to a page with all of the details. This also makes it easier to change those details if you need to, rather than having to do it on every page and/or post.

If you syndicate your content on other sites, include a link back to your original article from each site on which your content is syndicated. You could also ask the site on which you are guest posting to use the noindex meta tag to prevent search engines from indexing their version of the content. This is something you will want to discuss prior to agreeing to write on their site.

There has never been a time throughout human history that we’ve had the amount of information at our fingertips like we do today. With the creation of the internet and technology like smartphones, such access has not only made significant changes to our world and personal lives but also in how we do business.

Whether a start-up, freelancer, small business, non-profit, or corporation, having an online presence is becoming essential to a business’s reach and growth. According to a recent survey by Pixolabo, 64% of small businesses have invested in a website, and those numbers are expected to keep climbing.

While the benefits of an online presence are clear and include things such as improved sales, brand awareness, and building long term trust with customers and potential customers; how to generate traffic to your website is not.

Like a penny on the sidewalk in Times Square, the challenge of attracting visitors to your page can be daunting if not confusing altogether. One of the primary ways to do this is through SEO, and one of the main aspects of SEO, which will be addressed in this post, is using keywords and doing keyword research.

BUT FIRST, WHAT IS SEO?

In case you haven’t heard of it or are just a bit unsure, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s nothing more than merely incorporating certain factors into a website, whether on or off-page to increase its chances of being included in Google’s top search engine results.

Many of these changes, such as adding clear and unique images, aiming for quality and readability, as well as ensuring quick load times and having a responsive design, all revolve around the use of keywords. Since searching for anything online begins and ends with words, it quite easy to understand how “KEYWORDS” is a significant part of this optimization.

Keywords Scrabble Letters

A KEY FACTOR

After writing your content, its time to do some research. Keywords are nothing more than the words and phrases that are expected to be on your page based on the content it covers. So, if your page sells hand-made dolls, then hand-made dolls and other associated words should be on your site. Google, which makes up 90.46% of all internet searches, simply matches the words on your webpage to the words and phrases users type into the search bar. Google’s algorithms use these matches to not only understand the content on a webpage but to fine-tune search results to give users the best information it can find. This makes keywords the key, no pun intended, to generating traffic to your website. All other aspects of SEO simply encourage them to stay once they get there.

NO PAIN NO GAIN

In the latter days of the internet, many webmasters did what we call “keyword stuffing.” This means that they simply littered their pages with the same keywords, which caused their site to rank high on search results even though there wasn’t any quality content on the page. Granted, this is much easier than creating quality content. However, since then, Google has incorporated safeguards to flag these sites, which can then be penalized or removed from Google’s search results altogether.

Long gone are the days of keyword stuffing or using other tricks and gimmicks known as Black Hat SEO for increasing traffic. If you want to have a lasting and growing presence online, using keywords the right way is where you need to start.

QUALITY CONTENT COMES FIRST

Since Google shifted its criteria for search results, the easiest way to incorporate keywords into your site is simply by knowing what you’re talking about. If you simply explain what you know, usually those keywords will naturally be included (at least most of them anyway). Creating quality content is the first step to improving your traffic well before doing any research. In fact, it’s often recommended to write the content before looking up keywords at all.

WHAT IS KEYWORD RESEARCH?

Keyword research is when you look up the most common keywords and phrases people use when searching for certain products, services, or information on the web. When you cross-reference these with your own products, services, and information, you’ll have the right words to connect you with potential customers or fans.

There are several online tools like Google Keyword Planner, SEOquake, Ubersuggest, Answerthepublic, Keywords Everywhere, and even Google’s autofill function to help you uncover these words and phrases. There are also software options like Web Content Studio 2019, but this and others like it can be a bit pricey.

TIPS FOR USING KEYWORDS

After gathering a minimum of about 15 to 20 keywords and phrases, use these following tips for including them on your site.

  1. Go through your list of words and phrases and simply replace them with similar or closely related words already in your content.
  2. Don’t overuse them. This should be easy if you are using a variety of words connected to your topic. Just keep in mind that wherever you place them, it should not be obvious or interrupt the flow of the piece.
  3. Include them in your H1 headings and titles. This will make then stand out to Google as well as your visitors.
  4. Add them to your meta description, which is the snippet of information Google displays about your page in their search results.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Following these tips as well as incorporating other SEO factors into your website is sure to increase your traffic. If you don’t have the time, need help with content, or building or rebuilding your website, contact us today!

You have decided to turn over the reins of your website to a developer who knows how to design and code a site that will help you compete in the online marketplace. Fantastic!

But, as a lawyer, you have spent your whole education and career writing. You figure you can write your own legal website content. Right? Wrong. Here are three simple reasons why you should hire a professional copywriter to craft compelling content for your website.

Professionally written SEO Law Firm website copy can make all the difference.
Professionally written SEO Law Firm website copy can make all the difference.

Reason #1: Web-Based Writing Is Not the Same as Legal Writing.

Writing content for the Internet is not the same as writing a legal brief or demand letter. They are similar, however, in that they each have technical aspects that you must follow to get it right. But you did not go to school to write for search engines. Nor did you likely take many marketing courses, if any, as you prepared for legal practice.

Hiring a professional website writer can help bridge the gap between you and your audience that exist on the Web. Such a writer understands search engine optimization (SEO), so writing for search bots comes naturally. That same writer also knows how to break through legal jargon to communicate your services clearly to a prospective client.

Reason #2: Your Content Will Be Done On-Time.

If you are like most attorneys, your law firm marketing efforts often fall last on your to-do list. You may have the best of intentions, promising your web developer that you will deliver content for your site by a certain date so you can hit that “go live” date you are so anxious for. And then your due date comes and goes. And you get wrapped up in casework and trial dates. And all of a sudden, your “go live” date gets pushed out further and further, and you find yourself paying for hosting services for a site that is still under development.

By hiring a writer, you avoid the stress that comes with having the task hanging over your head. Your full website project stays on track, as your writer will deliver copy to you on time and help keep you on task for delivering edits and approving copy. From there, your writer can work with your developer to make the content development process move as smoothly as possible. That way, your site goes live when you want it to, and you get the most bang for your hosting services buck.

Reason #3: You Have Better Things to Do With Your Time.

Tied directly in with reason two is the fact that your time is precious. What you do with it matters. You need to focus on tasks that help your clients and bring you fulfillment, not to mention earning income to support you and your family.

Writing content for your website takes time if you do it right. The average website marketing writer spends at least one hour per page of copy, and that is coming from someone who does this on a daily basis. A basic five-page website could take you 10-12 hours to write. Just think of what you can accomplish, work, personal or otherwise, with that time.

What Are You Waiting For?

Whether you just starting out on a new website project or you are in the middle of one that you thought you could or should handle on your own, there is no better time than now to hire a professional writer to help. Let the professional writer focus on what she does best so you can focus on what you do best: providing legal services to those who need them.
